  • What should I do if my "check engine light or "service engine soon" light comes on.

There are several places that advertise that they will check your check engine light for free. This results in pulling fault codes, however diagnosing and testing your vehicle to pin point the problem still remains. There are many sensors and computerized components that manage your vehicle's engine performance and emissions. When one of these fails, the "check engine" light is illuminated. Although your car may seem to run fine, it is important to have the issue addressed to prevent long-term problems. Our trained technicians are ready to take care of any of your vehicles diagnostic needs.

  • My brake lining light is on. Is it safe to drive? If yes, how long can I drive before I cause damage?

Yes, your car is safe to drive, but you should make an appointment with your repair shop as soon as possible to inspect your brakes and take the appropriate actions.

  • My ABS/BAS/ESP warning light is on. Does that mean my brakes are going to stop working?

No, your brakes will default to normal braking without the assistance of antilock, however the electronics parts of these systems have detected a problem, and you may experience wheel lock up if panic (emergency) stops occur. You should schedule an appointment with your repair shop as soon as possible to have these systems tested. They are important safety systems.

  • I have a 2002 500 SL Mercedes and I am concerned about the factory recommended maintenance for the transmission. I have been told that it is non-serviceable and the fluid never has to be changed. What do you recommend?

On many of the newer cars with electronic transmissions, the manufacture doesn't recommend servicing the transmissions. Yet, it has been our experience that after approximately 40,000/50,000 miles, the fluid is dark and has an odor. We feel strongly that regular transmission services prolong the life of your transmission. We recommend servicing at intervals of 50,000 miles.

  • Is it really necessary to replace my timing belt at the recommended time and mileage interval?

Yes! Absolutely! Timing belt failure on most vehicles can result in catastrophic engine damage. The cost of repairing an engine after the timing belt breaks is much greater than replacing the timing belt.

  • When should my car get a tune up?

All vehicle manufacturers recommend to have specified maintenance items performed according to the mileage on your vehicle. Oil services, air filter, cabin air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, etc. are all important items that need to replaced at the specified mileage to keep your vehicle running in tip top condition.

  • What should I do if my engine starts to overheat?

This is a very serious problem - if your car overheats for too long, you can damage your engine. As soon as possible, find a safe place to pull off the road and shut the engine off! Do not attempt to check the fluid level in the radiator; the hot fluid can cause severe burns. The best thing to do is have your car towed to the nearest, trusted auto repair facility.

  • What should I do if my brakes make noise?

Brakes are probably the most important safety system on your vehicle. If you experience any abnormal noise or vibrations when braking you should have them inspected immediately by a trusted auto repair facility.

  • Do I have to use the manufacturer’s original equipment parts to keep my warranty valid?

Legally, automakers cannot specify which parts are used to complete your vehicle’s service. You may use any brand-name quality parts or OEM Auto Parts to replace fan belts, hoses, brakes, exhaust or chassis parts and more, however we prefer to use genuine or original equipment parts to ensure the standard of quality that your vehicle deserves.

  • When should I get my oil changed?

You should get your oil changed every 3000 miles if conventional oil is used or as recommended in your vehicle's owner's manual.

  • When should I change my spark plugs?

For maximum fuel economy and peak engine performance, your spark plugs should be replaced every 30 months or 30,000 miles, unless your vehicle is equipped with 100,000-mile platinum tipped spark plugs.
